Cultivated in 1545, this is the oldest university garden globally and has been listed as a World Heritage Site due to its contributions to botanical culture over a period of almost five centuries. It had always been devoted to producing medicinal and exotic plants for scientific purposes. Greenhouses feature early 19th century architecture and there is also a glasshouse where orchids, ferns and rainforest plants are cultivated. Entrance is free and the Botanic Garden is open to the public between 09h00 - 13h00 and 15h00 - 18h00 during the period April to October.
